WW2 RAF Spitfire / Hurricane Pilots Log Book Group
WW2 RAF Log Books & Ephemera.
To - Spitfire / Hurricane Pilot, Flying Officer David Leslie Randall of RAF 253 Squadron.
Both Log Books are nearly full of entries which record F/O Randall’s service from 1942-50.
These include his flying training and operational flights at the end, and then post war, mainly in Italy and surrounding countries.
The group consists of -
His two Pilot’s Flying Log Books (one covered in aircraft fabric), some excellent original squadron photographs including his ‘escape’ photo, his pilot’s wings, a group of ephemera including his blood chit and escape map, some interesting hand written letters from the distinguished fighter pilot Laddie Lucas, CBE, DSO & Bar, DFC……….
The Log's are full of entries plus RAF rubber stamps and signatures, stuck-in RAF flying assessment sheets, and aircraft primary instructions etc.....
Interestingly, at the back of one Log is an official RAF Incident Endorsement signed by the Group Captain reprimanding him for landing his Spitfire with the wheels in the ‘UP’ position (Oops) !
Needs further researching.
