WW2, RAF Pilots Medal Grouping.
Consisting of his issued -
1939/45, France & Germany, Italy Stars & War medals, all in fine condition.
His RAF Pilot Wings, Flying clothing Card, Identification Card with portrait photo, various official RAF passes, a nice 'cartoon style' Christmas card, Wellington Bomber fuel system certificate, RAF message form hand written and marked 'Secret', a typed report to the squadron commanding officer from the pilot regarding a forced landing in his Wellington aircraft, his 'signing up' papers dated 20/8/1936, Army pay books and pass.
RAF F/Lt. E. Catley, originally joined the British armed forces during 1936 as part of the Army in the Royal Artillery, and here he rose to the rank of sergeant.
He later transferred to the RAF and commenced flying training.
Having qualified as a bomber pilot he is posted to 36 squadron flying Wellington bombers out of bases in Italy and Egypt.
After the D-Day invasion he is flying over France & Germany, and he finally ends as part of the British air forces of occupation (Germany).
