WW2, RAF Aircraft Flare Cartridge Case

This is an Air Ministry flare cartridge case which would be fixed inside the aircraft (bomber) fuselage to hold 12 flare's for the flare pistol.

Flares were to be fired, from the aircraft, upon circling the airfield if it had a radio problem or it had sustained damage, or had casualties on board.

This metal case has a hinged lid with clips inside to hold the flares (empty).
It is fastened shut by two finger screws.

Air ministry stamped on the cover with Ref No. 27H/1382.
