RAF Blackburn Iris Flying Boat, Radio Trailing Aer
A rare early 1920's, RAF Flying Boat, Blackburn Iris (only five aircraft ever built) Radio Operators trailing aerial unit.
This fine unit has a Tuffnol material drum to hold the aerial cable (cable not included).
This is mounted on a ratchet system fixed to an alloy frame.
The ratchet allows the cable release free movement and it also provides a brake as well as a pawl for measured cable release and retraction.
Stamped in to the casting is - Type No.124.
On the top of the frame is a brass instruction plate with an item No.3184 stamped.
The unit is in excellent working condition.
